Sony A9 Full Frame Mirrorless Camera with 5-Axis Stabalisation Launched in India

Sony has launched the new α9 camera with FE G-Master and one FE G Lens. Sony touts the camera as one of the best they have ever created and says its unmatched by mirrorless and even SLR cameras. The Sony A9 is the first camera in the world to come with full-frame stacked CMOS sensor with a resolution of 24.2-Megapixel.

The full frame stacked CMOS is designed to give high ISO results and is also capable of shooting a high number of frame per second. The camera offers blackout-free continuous shooting up to 20fps, 60 AF/AE tracking calculations per second and a maximum shutter speed of up to 1/32,000 second. All of these new features rely on the full frame stacked CMOS, and the new sensor achieves data speed processing that is up to 20x faster than its predecessor. Sony has mated the new sensor with the BIONZ X processing engine thus improving the overall performance.

The high performance in the Sony A9 also lets the component calculate the AF/AE faster all the while reducing the display latency. The shooting buffer has also been increased thus allowing photographers to shoot at 20fps and capture 362 JPEG/241 RAW images.

Sony A9 AF/AE is so fast that it can calculate the components for up to 60 times per seconds. The same also holds true for erratic and complex motion irrespective of the shutter release. All of this makes the Sony α9 a compelling choice for photo journalists, especially the ones who cover sports events. Moving on, the Sony α9 manages to capture a blackout free image. This feature is available in all modes including the high speed 20fps one. 93-percent of frame coverage is achieved by 693 focal plane phase detection this will help users focus on complex planes.

The Sony A9 comes with a 5-axis stabilisation feature that is mated with a 5.0 steps shutter speed. The stabilisation can be invoked by a simple half press of the shutter button, and the same can also be monitored on the LCD. Other mention worthy features include Ethernet port which allows users to transfer files at higher speed by making use of an FTP server. The camera also comes with a dual SD card slots with one reserved for UHS-II media. The best part is that the movies can be recorded simultaneously on both the cards thus resulting in better data management.

Sony A9 also boasts of an all new shutter that comes sans the mechanical noise and is also vibration free even up to speeds of 1/32,000 sec. What this means is that one can achieve shallow depth of field without the need to use filters. Sony also ensures that one can record high-quality 4K movie with full pixel readout and no pixel binning. This is achieved by collecting 6K information and then oversampling it to 4K.

The Quad-VGA OLED Tru-Finder is one of the highest resolution cameras Sony has used in this camera and with this one can see the near to real image production instantly. The outer lens is coated with fluorine in order to repel dirt, and the EVF comes with a Zeiss T coating that reduces the reflections at maximum levels. The Sony A9 is priced at Rs 3,29,990 and will be available starting from 29th of July across all major electronic stores.
