Canon releases mirrorless camera for experienced photographers

Canon's latest mirrorless camera, EOS M5, officially entered the Indonesian market on Thursday.

Introduced in September, it is said to be a more sophisticated mirrorless camera as it targets experienced photographers and has higher specifications than its predecessors, the EOS M3 and EOS M10. Among its highlighted features are an electronic viewfinder, dual-command dial and a touchscreen that can be tilted 180 degrees.

Authorized distributor PT Datascrip Canon image communication division manager Sintra Wong said EOS M5 was closer to the DSLR EOS 80D in terms of specifications. However, since it is a mirrorless camera, it does not have a mirrorbox, resulting in a much slimmer size.

In Indonesia, the product is priced at Rp 14.2 million (US$1,051) for body only, Rp 15.7 million for the kit version that include EF-M 45-45 mm F3.5-6.3 lens and Rp 19.9 million for the package that comes with EF-M 18-150 mm F3.5-6.3 lens. (fmn/kes)
