Last year Sony introduced a compact camera, the HX90V, which it claims to be the smallest you can buy with a 30x optical zoom lens.
Sony said the camera's 30x Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* optical zoom lens doubles the zoom range with a 60x "Clear Image" digital zoom extension.
Utilizing a BIONZ X processor, the HX80 can record full HD movies in XAVC S format at 50 megabits per second (Mbps). To help with capturing stills and videos in low light, the HX80 includes 5-axis Optical SteadyShot image stabilization.
Sony is slowly becoming known to pack its small bodied-cameras with some big features, like its full-frame mirrorless cameras, but the company hasn't lets its compact cameras fall to the wayside either with the introduction of the super zoom DSC-HX80. Additionally, the camera includes built-in Wi-Fi and NFC for compatibility with Sony PlayMemories camera apps.
The Sony DSC0-HX80 is expected to go on sale sometime during April for about $350 (about £245.27, AU$468.69).
Sony also used the Wedding & Portrait Photography Conference and Expo (WPPI) show in Las Vegas this week to reveal a new wireless lighting control system targeting advanced amateur and professional photographers will be hitting the market this summer. This new system is designed for Alpha-series cameras and will allow for wireless control of external flash units. The system has a maximum range of just under 100 feet (30 meters) and provides flash sync speeds up to 1/250s with high speed sync also available. Pricing and additional specifications will be forthcoming.
