Ditch your DSLR for a new Samsung camera tomorrow at this event

There was a time when having a DSLR camera meant you were kind of a badass.

Sure, the cameras still serve a purpose especially if you are a professional photographer, but for mere mortals, perhaps the days of owning a DSLR are no longer. It's harder to travel and move around with one, especially when smaller devices, like GoPros and smartphone cameras, actually now do a great job of capturing candid moments and getting it on social media.

So, if you're thinking about ditching your DSLR, you might want to register for Samsung's #DitchTheDSLR Day, happening tomorrow at 11 a.m. at the Seattle Center. It's part of the PIX Photo Expo and Conference, which is also co-hosted by Amazon.

Here's the deal: You trade in your working DSLR camera for a Samsung NX500, valued at $799. Samsung says that your old DSLR will be "recycled responsibly." But the deal only lasts while supplies hold out.

Samsung has hosted the #DitchTheDSLR Day in New York and Los Angeles, where 1,000 DSLRs have been traded in for the new NX500, which is the latest addition to Samsung's line of mirrorless cameras. The camera features "high resolution 28MP BSI APS-C sensor, 4K and UHD video recording, and Samsung Auto Shot," according to Samsung.

Also? It has options to connect via Bluetooth and WiFi.

So, are you ready to ditch the DSLR yet?
