Sony Pictures Television Networks (SPT) has launched the Picture This Festival for the Environment, a shorts film festival that aims to highlight stories of successful endeavors or actions that could lead to an environmentally sound world.

The festival will curate short videos that range between 30 seconds and 7 minutes in length from contests held by SPT's 45 international networks.

Eight participating network groups will accept entries from countries in their territories which will be judged by a panel of local dignitaries and experts. The regional winner in each territory will be flown to the Sony Pictures Studios lot in Los Angeles this October for a day of events and a Hollywood screening.

One grand prize winner will then be selected in LA and be awarded with US$5,000 as well as a Sony 4K package that includes a 55″ 4K TV and a Sony Alpha a6300 mirrorless camera, courtesy of Sony Electronics.

All winners will be chosen based on the power of their storytelling and their illustration of the Picture This campaign: Picture a Better World.

Participating networks and contest dates include the UK on June 13; Spain and Portugal on June 21; Russia on July 18; South Africa and Latin America on July 4; the U.S. on July 18; and Central Europe (Poland, Romania and Hungary) and Asia on August 1.
