Sony Malaysia has finally revealed the price of its upcoming Sony α6300 ILCE-6300 camera (aka Alpha A6300) for the Malaysian market. This latest from the E-mount range will be available in a few options that include body only or bundled lens packages. Prices start at RM 4,999 for the body-only option but the camera can also be ordered with the SELP1650 (E PZ 16–50 mm F3.5–5.6 OSS) kit lens for RM 5,499. Both of these options come with SF-G1UX2 128 GB memory card (SDXC with Class 10, U3) as well as the NP-FW50 battery as pre-order specials. The pre-order and the offers that come with it will only be available until the 20th of March 2016, and will require 7–14 days for processing and delivery. The actual delivery will begin from the 15th of April onwards.

Those looking for additional options can instead go for the bundling of α6300 with either Sony's own SELP18105G (E PZ 18–105mm F4 G OSS) lens for RM 6,799 (normally priced at RM 7,188), or for the Vario Tessar T* E 16–70mm F4 ZA OSS zoom lens from Zeiss option at RM 8,099 (NP RM 8,496). These bundles come with the same two pre-order specials as mentioned above, but Sony will throw in an additional Airport Navigator roller bag from Think Tank Photo to sweeten the deal.

Sony's latest and greatest mirrorless APS-C camera boasts several upgrades to its range of features, which should prop this camera up for many new awards in its lifetime. To begin with, α6300 comes with what is called a 4D FOCUS system that locks in a subject in as little as 0.05 seconds. This Fast Hybrid AF system, like its smartphone variant, combines the speed of phase detection AF with the accuracy of contrast AF to deliver a lightning-fast focusing speed that works even for moving subjects. The camera features a High-density Tracking AF too with a staggering 425 phase detection AF points (claimed as the world's highest for an interchangeable lens camera) that allows it shoots images up to 11 fps with continuous autofocus and exposure tracking. The technology also allows the camera to shoot 8 fps in continuous live-view mode, providing a 100% accurate framing for fast moving subjects with the help of either the LCD screen or the on-board Tru-finder optical viewfinder. All 425 AF points, enhanced tracking, and focus accuracy work with an A-mount lenses too when used with a mount adapter such as the Sony LA-EA3, making the α6300 the first E-mount camera to be able to do so.

The camera's newly developed APS-C sized 24.2 MP Exmor CMOS sensor features thinner copper wiring layer and processing circuitry, as well as larger photo-diode dimensions. These are said to improve the light collection efficiency of the sensor, significantly accelerate the readout speed, and to also expand the sensitivity range with reduced noise. Combined with the upgraded image processing algorithm of the BIONZ X processing engine, the α6300 has been claimed to produce outstanding image quality throughout its entire ISO range of between 100–51200.

4K video recording is another feature that's being offered by the α6300 and it does so in Super 35 mm format, whereby the camera uses full pixel readout, that collects about 20 megapixels of information, without any pixel binning which reduces the spatial resolution. Simply put, the camera takes in data that is equivalent to a 6K video and then tries to cram that into a 4K UHD format for greater detail and depth. Also for video shooting, the camera uses the XAVC S codec that allows for a bit-rate as high as 100 Mbps for 4K recording and and 50 Mbps for Full HD. Additional video capabilities include slow motion video at 120 fps in Full HD with 100 Mbps of data transmission (which Sony claims as another first for an interchangeable lens camera with an APS-C sized sensor), S-Log gamma recording for wide dynamic range shooting, and support for S-Gamut for a wider colour space. These options allow for greater video processing options with the resulting videos during the post-product ion phase.

Here are some samples of 4K videos taken with the Sony α6300:

On the hardware aspect, the α6300 has a solid build that comes with its magnesium alloy design with reinforced lens mount structure, 9 customisable buttons that can be assigned to any of the 64 different functions that the camera has, upgraded dust and moisture resistance, as well as improved grip, shutter release button, and mode dial. Also included is a microphone line input for external microphones, support for XLR input with an adapter kit, Gamma Display Assist, and an enhanced Zebra functionality. The camera has been equipped with an XGA OLED Tru-Finder with 2.4 million dots that refreshes at 120 fps, along with a 3" type wide TFT display with 921.6 k dots that can be adjusted about 90-degrees upwards and 45-degrees down. To round things up, the α6300 also comes with Wi-Fi for for pairing with smartphones, and it can be initiated via NFC on devices that has it or via QR code for those that don't.
