TinyMOS, a startup formed by National University of Singapore students, has introduced its Tiny1, a camera designed for astrophotography. The camera was introduced earlier this month at TechCrunch Disrupt 2015, and claims to be the first-ever portable consumer-level astronomy camera.
Tiny1 functions as an everyday camera, according to TinyMOS, with the same performance level as a mirrorless camera. The model includes a Point-to-the-Stars feature that offers star charts over a live preview for locating constellations and stars. Tiny1 is able to capture barely-visible celestial objects with an exposure of approximately 30 seconds, and it can record 2.5K-resolution time-lapses. The camera has a brushed aluminum chassis, but additional information about its hardware hasn't been revealed.
TinyMOS plans to launch Tiny1 in an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign next month to fund the project; those interested can subscribe for updates about the pending launch.
