Olympus AIR A01 Launched in US, Will Hit Stores in August for $300 and Up

The Olympus AIR A01 mirrorless camera isn't anything new for international consumers, as it's known as the Air in Japan.  And it's coming to America under the AIR A01 name, a camera not unlike the Sony QX series that can be paired with your phone or tablet.

Truth be told, the Olympus AIR A01 is more of an accessory than an actual camera, but regardless of what it is, it does show a lot of promise now that it's been launched in the U.S.  Its fundamentals or basic specifications include a 16-megapixel sensor, 1080p video recording support, 10fps continuous shooting, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, a Micro Four Thirds, and a TruePic VII imaging chip.  It also comes with its own companion app available for three platforms – iOS, Android, and Kindle – for transferring images and controlling the camera.  You also get Amazon Cloud Drive integration on the AIR A01, which lets you save images on the cloud, instead of taking up precious space on your smartphone or tablet.

Pricing starts at $300 if you're buying the Olympus AIR A01 a la carte, or body-only.  But if you want to outfit your shooter with a 14-42mm EZ lens, that's going to cost you $500 all in all.  The camera is set to hit stores this August.
